Landlord Nicholas Shaplyko is a slumlord. When asked to send someone to repair the smallest things, such as a fire detector in the main stairwell that is beeping, he never responds. When I moved in, the fire escape was broken and hanging from the building, and I had to report him to the city to get it fixed. Another time, the heat in the unit did not work. I contacted him for at least 3 days, and then finally when I notified him that I was contacting the city, he miraculously responded. The entire time we resided there, there were leaks in the bathroom. When we sent him photos and informed him, he never responded. The ceiling lights were used by a pull string, and broke several times. The last time one broke, he refused to come fix it. Now, the new tenants are moving into a unit with a broken light. Also, one bedroom became uninhabitable about a week before the end of the lease as the roof of the building was leaking. When informed, he never responded..so, again, the new tenant is moving into an uninhabitable bedroom. The apartment itself also had no carbon monoxide or fire alarms when we moved in. He's a slum lord who clearly could not care less about his tenants' wellbeing or the quality of his property.
